Problem
A closed loop consists of an ideal 9 V battery, a resistor, and a forward-biased diode (0.70 V potential drop when conducting) connected in series. Tracing the potential–position graph in the direction of conventional current shows the battery first, followed by the resistor, and finally the diode, after which the potential returns to 0 V to complete the loop. If the current in the circuit is 0.45 A, determine the resistance of the resistor.
