Problem
A single, isolated circular conducting loop lies in a region where a uniform magnetic field is perpendicular to the plane of the loop and directed out of the page. At time t=0 the loop’s radius is 0.10 m. The loop then begins to expand radially at a constant rate of 2.5 mm/s and continues to do so for 4.0 s. The magnetic field magnitude remains constant at 0.80 T. The loop is connected to a 5.0 Ω resistor.
(a) Calculate the magnitude of the electromotive force induced in the loop at t=2.0s.
(b) Determine the magnitude and direction (clockwise or counter-clockwise as viewed from above) of the current through the resistor at t=2.0s.
(c) Find the electrical power being dissipated in the resistor at t=2.0s.
