Problem
A crate of mass 10kg is dragged 15m over a rough horizontal warehouse floor by a worker who pulls with a constant force of magnitude 80N directed 25∘ above the horizontal. The coefficient of kinetic friction between the crate and the floor is 0.2.
(i) Draw a clearly labelled free-body diagram for the crate and determine the normal reaction of the floor on the crate.
(ii) Calculate the work done by the applied force during the 15m displacement.
(iii) Compute the work done by the kinetic friction force over the same displacement.
(iv) Hence, find the net work done on the crate.
