Problem

Let aa be a real number satisfying a>0a>0 and a≠1a\ne 1. Two functions are defined as follows: f:R→(0,∞),f(x)=ax,f:\mathbb R\to(0,\infty),\qquad f(x)=a^x, g:(0,∞)→R,g(x)=log⁡ax.g:(0,\infty)\to\mathbb R,\qquad g(x)=\log_a x. Answer the following questions. (i) Verify that f(g(x))=xf\bigl(g(x)\bigr)=x for every x>0x>0. (ii) Verify that g(f(x))=xg\bigl(f(x)\bigr)=x for every real xx. (iii) State the domain and range of each function and explain briefly how these sets are interchanged between ff and gg. Hence confirm that ff and gg are inverses of each other.
