Problem

A flywheel spinning about its axis has a constant angular acceleration of 3 rad s−23\,\text{rad}\,\text{s}^{-2}. At an instant when its angular velocity is 12 rad s−112\,\text{rad}\,\text{s}^{-1}, consider a point QQ on its rim 0.25 m0.25\,\text{m} from the axis. (i) Calculate the magnitudes of the tangential and centripetal components of the linear acceleration of QQ at that instant. (ii) Determine the magnitude of the resultant linear acceleration of QQ at the same instant. (iii) Find the angle that the resultant acceleration makes with the tangential direction at this instant.
