Problem

A manufacturer produces closed cylindrical cans of height 20 cm20\,\text{cm}. To make one can, a thin sheet of metal is used such that 0.05 g0.05\,\text{g} of metal is required for every square centimetre of surface area covered. If 110 g110\,\text{g} of metal is used for one can, determine: (i) the total surface area of the can. (ii) the radius of the base of the can. (Take π=3.14\pi = 3.14.) (iii) how much metal (in grams) would be saved per can if the company decided to remove the top cover while keeping all other dimensions unchanged.
