Problem

Point charges q1=+4 μCq_1 = +4\,\mu\text{C} is kept at the point (0, 3 cm)(0,\,3\,\text{cm}) and q2=−6 μCq_2 = -6\,\mu\text{C} is kept at (4 cm, 0)(4\,\text{cm},\,0) on the xyxy-plane in vacuum. (i) Calculate the electrostatic force F21\mathbf{F}_{21} on q2q_2 due to q1q_1 in vector component form. (ii) Using your result from part (i), write the force F12\mathbf{F}_{12} on q1q_1 due to q2q_2 and state how its direction verifies Newton’s third law. (iii) Find the magnitude of the force obtained in part (i).
