Problem

In ΔABC, ∠B = 90°. From B, a perpendicular BD is drawn to the hypotenuse AC. (i) Prove that ΔABD is similar to ΔABC. (ii) Prove that ΔCBD is similar to ΔABC. (iii) Using the above similarities, show that BD2=AD×DCBD^{2} = AD \times DC. (iv) If AC = 25 cm and AB = 15 cm, calculate BD.
