Problem

Two point masses of 10 kg10\,\text{kg} and 40 kg40\,\text{kg} are kept 0.50 m0.50\,\text{m} apart on a smooth horizontal line. Find the magnitude and direction of the net gravitational field intensity at a point on the line that is 0.20 m0.20\,\text{m} from the 10 kg10\,\text{kg} mass and between the two masses. Use G=6.67×10−11 N m2/kg2G = 6.67\times10^{-11}\,\text{N m}^2\text{/kg}^2.
