Problem

A closed system is taken through three processes that form a complete cycle. • Process 1→2: the gas receives Q12=+800 JQ_{12}=+800\,\text{J} of energy by heating and W12=+150 JW_{12}=+150\,\text{J} of work is done ON the gas. • Process 2→3: adiabatic, with W23=−300 JW_{23}=-300\,\text{J} (i.e., the gas does 300 J300\,\text{J} of work on the surroundings). • Process 3→1: constant volume. Determine the energy Q31Q_{31} transferred as heating during process 3→1.
