Problem

A worker drags a crate with a constant force of 50 N50\,\text{N} from point P to point Q, a displacement of 12 m12\,\text{m} due east. He then drags the crate back from Q to P with the same magnitude of force acting due west along the same path. (a) What is the net displacement of the crate after the round trip? (b) Calculate the total work done by the worker on the crate for the whole journey. (c) State briefly why this result is obtained even though the crate has travelled a total distance of 24 m24\,\text{m}.
