Problem

In a park, a quadrilateral flower bed ABCDABCD has sides AB=9 mAB = 9\,\text{m}, BC=10 mBC = 10\,\text{m}, CD=11 mCD = 11\,\text{m}, DA=12 mDA = 12\,\text{m} and diagonal AC=13 mAC = 13\,\text{m}. (i) Determine the area of △ABC\triangle ABC. (ii) Determine the area of △ADC\triangle ADC. (iii) Hence find the total area of the flower bed ABCDABCD. (iv) The gardener plans to plant roses only in △ABC\triangle ABC. What percentage of the flower-bed area will remain for other plants?
