Problem

A spinner has five numbered sectors 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. Because of unequal areas, the probabilities of landing on 1, 2, 3 and 4 are observed to be 0.18,0.27,0.220.18, 0.27, 0.22 and 0.190.19 respectively. Answer the following questions: (i) Find the probability of the pointer landing on number 5 so that the probabilities of all five outcomes sum to 11. (ii) List the complete set of five probabilities. (iii) Verify that each probability found lies between 00 and 11 inclusive. (iv) Express every probability in part (ii) as a percentage correct to the nearest whole per cent.
