Problem

A series circuit consists of R=2 ΩR = 2\,\Omega, L=0.05 HL = 0.05\,\text{H} and C=80 μFC = 80\,\mu\text{F}. For the two operating frequencies given below, answer the following: (i) f=100 Hzf = 100\,\text{Hz} (ii) f=400 Hzf = 400\,\text{Hz} (a) Calculate the phase angle ϕ\phi between the source voltage and the current for each frequency and state whether the current leads or lags. (b) Which of the two frequencies is closer to the circuit’s resonant frequency? Justify briefly.
