Problem

A cylindrical container, open at the top, has an internal radius of 7.2 cm7.2\,\text{cm} and height 25 cm25\,\text{cm}. The inner and outer curved surfaces are to be painted with enamel paint. One millilitre of this paint covers 200 cm2200\,\text{cm}^2 of surface uniformly. Calculate the total curved surface area that must be painted, determine the volume of paint required, and state whether 40 mL40\,\text{mL} of paint will be sufficient. Show all working and give your answer for area correct to the nearest square centimetre.
