Problem

From the roof of a building 40 m high, a stone is thrown straight upward with a speed of 15 m s−1^{-1}. Ignore air resistance. (i) Compute the total time elapsed before the stone reaches the ground at the base of the building. (ii) Find the speed of the stone just before it hits the ground. (iii) Draw a qualitative displacement–time graph for the stone from the instant of projection until it strikes the ground, clearly marking the highest point and the roof level.
