Problem

A toy car slows to a stop under the action of a constant braking force. Answer the following. (i) A 0.5 kg0.5\,\text{kg} toy car is moving at 2 m/s2\,\text{m/s}. A constant braking force of 1 N1\,\text{N} acts opposite to its motion. Calculate the magnitude of the deceleration produced. (ii) Determine the distance the car travels before coming to rest. (iii) Find the work done by the braking force during this time. (iv) Compare the magnitude of the work found in part (iii) with the initial kinetic energy of the car and comment on the result.
