Problem

A uniform circular platform of radius 0.25 m0.25\,\text{m} starts from rest and acquires an angular speed of 20 rad s−120\,\text{rad\,s}^{-1} after turning through 1515 complete revolutions under a constant angular acceleration. (i) Derive an expression that relates angular acceleration to the initial angular speed, final angular speed and angular displacement for motion with uniform angular acceleration. (ii) Using the data given, determine the angular acceleration of the platform. (iii) Calculate the linear speed of a point on the rim at the instant the angular speed reaches 20 rad s−120\,\text{rad\,s}^{-1}. (iv) Find the tangential acceleration of the same point while the platform is accelerating.
