Problem

A 0.40 mol0.40\,\text{mol} sample of an ideal monatomic gas is held at constant volume while energy is transferred to it by heating. During the process its internal energy increases by 750 J. (a) Calculate the change in temperature of the gas. (b) If the initial temperature was 300 K, determine the final temperature. (c) On the basis of your results, compute the molar heat capacity at constant volume for this gas and comment on how your value compares with the accepted theoretical value for an ideal monatomic gas.
