Problem

Two identical blocks AA and BB, each of mass 2 kg2\,\text{kg}, are connected by a light, inextensible string of negligible mass and placed on the same rough fixed incline which makes an angle of 37∘37^{\circ} with the horizontal. Block AA is above block BB along the line of greatest slope, and both blocks are released from rest after sliding has just begun. The coefficient of kinetic friction between each block and the plane is 0.250.25. Assume the string remains taut and the motion is along the line of greatest slope. (i) Draw separate free-body diagrams for blocks AA and BB, showing all the forces acting on each. (ii) Using suitable equations of motion, obtain the common acceleration of the two-block system along the plane. (iii) Determine the tension in the string during the motion. (iv) If the blocks travel 3.0 m3.0\,\text{m} down the plane, calculate the time taken to cover this distance.
