Problem

A tank contains y(t)y(t) grams of dye dissolved in water at time tt minutes. Dyed water enters the tank at a concentration of 2 g/L at a constant rate of 3 L/min, and well-mixed solution leaves at the same volumetric rate. Explain in one or two sentences why the instantaneous rate of change of dye mass can be written as dydt=6−3Vy(t)\dfrac{dy}{dt}=6-\dfrac{3}{V}y(t), where VV is the constant volume of the tank (in liters).
