Problem

A 220 V220\,\text{V} (rms) AC source is connected, one at a time, to two purely resistive loads: R1=20 ΩR_1 = 20\,\Omega and R2=80 ΩR_2 = 80\,\Omega. Assume the source voltage is perfectly sinusoidal. (i) For each resistor, calculate the peak value of the current. (ii) For each resistor, calculate the average power dissipated. (iii) Obtain the ratio of the powers PR1:PR2P_{R_1}:P_{R_2} and comment briefly on the result.
