Problem
A quiz contestant has answered 24 questions correctly out of 40 attempted so far.
(i) Compute the present empirical probability that the contestant answers a question correctly.
(ii) The contestant wishes the empirical probability of a wrong answer to be less than 0.35. Assuming she expects to answer exactly 80% of the upcoming questions correctly, determine the minimum number of additional questions she should attempt to achieve her target.
(iii) Instead, if she decides to attempt exactly 15 more questions, find the minimum number of additional correct answers required so that the probability of a wrong answer drops below 0.35, and then state the new probability of a wrong answer in that case.
