Problem

Lines aa and bb are parallel. Transversal mm meets them at points PP and QQ, while transversal nn meets them at points RR and SS. The following angle measures are given: • On transversal mm, the alternate exterior angles at PP and QQ are (5x−3y)∘(5x - 3y)^{\circ} and (2x+y+30)∘(2x + y + 30)^{\circ} respectively. • On transversal nn, the corresponding angle at RR is (3x+2y−10)∘(3x + 2y - 10)^{\circ} and the corresponding angle at SS is 110∘110^{\circ}. (i) Form two independent equations in xx and yy using the angle relationships described. (ii) Solve the simultaneous equations to obtain the values of xx and yy. (iii) Hence calculate the measure of each of the alternate exterior angles on transversal mm.
