Problem

Two compound microscopes, A and B, have identical eyepieces of focal length 2.5 cm2.5\,\text{cm} and the same tube length of 18 cm18\,\text{cm}. The objective focal length is 0.4 cm0.4\,\text{cm} for microscope A and 0.6 cm0.6\,\text{cm} for microscope B. Assume the least distance of distinct vision to be 25 cm25\,\text{cm} and that both microscopes are used in normal adjustment. (i) Find the approximate magnification produced by each microscope. (ii) Determine the ratio of the magnifications MA/MBM_A / M_B.
