Problem

A boat can move at 4 m s−14\,\text{m\,s}^{-1} relative to still water towards the north. The river flows eastward at 3 m s−13\,\text{m\,s}^{-1}. Determine (i) the magnitude of the boat’s velocity relative to the ground and (ii) the angle it makes with the north direction.
