Problem

A wooden box has external dimensions 80 cm×45 cm×30 cm80\,\text{cm} \times 45\,\text{cm} \times 30\,\text{cm}. The thickness of the wood is uniform and negligible for the purpose of this calculation. (a) Calculate the volume of the box in cubic centimetres. (b) Find its total surface area that must be polished. (c) Express the volume obtained in part (a) in litres. (1 L=1000 cm3)\bigl(1\,\text{L} = 1000\,\text{cm}^{3}\bigr)
