Problem
Answer the following questions on power, force and velocity.
(a) Starting from the definitions of work and velocity, derive an expression that relates power to force and velocity for an object moving in a straight line under a constant force.
(b) A car of mass 800kg starts from rest and attains a speed of 20m/s in 10s on a horizontal road. Assuming the driving force of the engine remains constant and friction is negligible, calculate the average power developed by the engine during this interval.
(c) Using the same data, determine the instantaneous power being produced by the engine at the end of 10s.
