Problem

For the in situ formation of Br2\mathrm{Br_2}, the following reaction is used: 5Br−(aq)+BrO3−(aq)+6H+(aq)→3Br2(l)+3H2O(l)5\mathrm{Br^-}(\mathrm{aq})+\mathrm{BrO_3^-}(\mathrm{aq})+6\mathrm{H^+}(\mathrm{aq})\rightarrow3\mathrm{Br_2}(\mathrm{l})+3\mathrm{H_2O}(\mathrm{l}). In this reaction, (a) BrO3−\mathrm{BrO_3^-} disproportionates to Br2\mathrm{Br_2}. (b) Br−\mathrm{Br^-} disproportionates to Br2\mathrm{Br_2}. (c) Br−\mathrm{Br^-} has been oxidised and BrO3−\mathrm{BrO_3^-} has been reduced. (d) Equivalent mass of Br2\mathrm{Br_2} is equal to its molar mass.
