Problem

A circular metal disc of radius RR lies perpendicular to a non-uniform magnetic field directed along its axis. The magnitude of the field varies with the radial distance rr from the centre according to B(r)=B0 rRB(r)=B_0\,\dfrac{r}{R}, where B0B_0 is a constant. (i) Write an expression for the elemental magnetic flux dΦ\text{d} \Phi passing through an annular ring of radius rr and width dr\text{d} r on the disc. (ii) Integrate this expression from r=0r=0 to r=Rr=R and obtain the total magnetic flux Φ\Phi through the entire surface of the disc in terms of B0B_0 and RR.
