Problem

Two vertical columns are completely filled with incompressible fluids A and B respectively. When a pressure sensor is raised by 0.40 m in column A, its reading falls by 3.6 kPa. The same sensor, raised by the same 0.40 m in column B, shows a fall of 4.8 kPa. (i) Which fluid is denser? (ii) Calculate the ratio ρB:ρA\rho_B : \rho_A (answer correct to two significant figures).
