Problem

A projectile is launched from the origin with speed v0v_0 making an angle θ0\theta_0 with the horizontal. Ignore air resistance and take the downward acceleration to be gg. (i) Obtain expressions for the horizontal and vertical components of velocity as functions of time tt. (ii) Hence show that the angle ϕ\phi made by the velocity vector with the horizontal at time tt satisfies tan⁡ϕ=tan⁡θ0−gtv0cos⁡θ0\tan\phi = \tan\theta_0 - \dfrac{g t}{v_0\cos\theta_0}. (iii) Using the result of part (ii), find the time after launch when the projectile is moving horizontally.
