Problem

Consider a series RLC circuit supplied by an alternating emf of angular frequency ω\omega. (a) Prove that the power factor of the circuit is unity when the driving frequency equals the resonant frequency. (b) Using this result, explain with the aid of a labelled current–frequency graph why the circuit delivers maximum power to the load at resonance. (c) Discuss qualitatively how the bandwidth of the resonance curve is related to energy dissipation in the resistor.
