Problem

A rectangular wooden block has length 15 cm15\,\text{cm}, breadth 10 cm10\,\text{cm} and height 6 cm6\,\text{cm}. Its mass is 900 g900\,\text{g}. (i) Calculate the volume of the block in m3\text{m}^3. (ii) Determine the density of the wood in kg m−3\text{kg\,m}^{-3}. (iii) The density of water is 1000 kg m−31000\,\text{kg\,m}^{-3}. State, with calculation, whether the block will float or sink in water.
