Problem

Factorisation of a polynomial with a repeated zero. (i) Factorise the polynomial q(x)=x3−x2−8x+12q(x)=x^{3}-x^{2}-8x+12 completely. (ii) Determine the multiplicity (number of times it occurs) of each zero found in part (i). (iii) Verify that the sum and product of all the zeros obtained satisfy the relationships expected from the coefficients of q(x)q(x).
