Problem

A ball of mass 0.5 kg0.5\,\text{kg} is thrown vertically upward with a speed of 10 m s−110\,\text{m s}^{-1}. Take g=10 m s−2g = 10\,\text{m s}^{-2}. (i) Calculate the maximum height reached by the ball. (ii) Using this height, find the work done by the gravitational force during the upward motion. (iii) State whether this work is positive, negative or zero and give a brief reason.
