Problem

The points A(2,−1,3)A(2,-1,3) and B(5,4,−2)B(5,4,-2) are fixed. A variable point RR divides the segment ABAB internally in the ratio t:1t:1, where t>0t>0. (i) Express the coordinates of RR in terms of tt. (ii) If RR lies on the plane x+2y+z=7x+2y+z=7, find the value of tt. (iii) Using the value of tt obtained in part (ii), calculate the length ARAR.
