Problem

Let f(x)=x2+kxf(x)=x^{2}+kx where kk is a real parameter and let aa be a fixed real number. (i) Obtain a simplified form of f(a+h)−f(a)f(a+h)-f(a). (ii) Evaluate lim⁡h→0f(a+h)−f(a)h\displaystyle\lim_{h\to 0}\frac{f(a+h)-f(a)}{h} in terms of aa and kk. Keep your answer fully simplified. (iii) If the slope of the tangent to y=f(x)y=f(x) at x=3x=3 equals 1414, determine the value of kk.
