Problem

In a molecular-beam experiment, the average kinetic energy of particles in a sample of an unknown monatomic gas is measured to be 6.21×10−21 J6.21\times10^{-21}\,\text{J} per particle. Boltzmann constant kB=1.38×10−23 J K−1k_{B}=1.38\times10^{-23}\,\text{J K}^{-1}. (a) Determine the temperature, in kelvins, that corresponds to the measured average kinetic energy. (b) Express the temperature calculated in part (a) in degrees Celsius. (c) Briefly justify whether the molar mass of the gas would change the temperature value obtained in part (a).
