Problem

Five sets of readings obtained for a single unknown resistor are given below:
ReadingPotential difference V (V)Current I (A)
11.20.24
22.40.48
33.00.60
43.60.72
54.80.96
(i) Plot a graph of VV (vertical axis) against II (horizontal axis) on a sheet of graph paper using the above data. (ii) From the best straight line passing through the points, determine its slope and hence obtain the resistance of the unknown resistor. (iii) For each individual reading, calculate the percentage deviation of R=V/IR=V/I from the value obtained in part (ii). Comment on the accuracy of the experiment.
