Problem

A student is provided with a resistor of resistance R=50 ΩR = 50\,\Omega, an inductor of inductance L=200 mHL = 200\,\text{mH} and a capacitor of capacitance C=100 μFC = 100\,\mu\text{F} connected in series to a sinusoidal source of rms voltage V=220 VV = 220\,\text{V} operating at frequency f=50 Hzf = 50\,\text{Hz}. (a) Calculate the impedance Z of the circuit at this frequency. (b) Determine the phase angle φ between the supply voltage and the current. (c) Compute the power factor of the circuit and state whether the current leads or lags the voltage. (d) Find the resonant frequency of the circuit and the impedance at resonance.
