Problem

The points A(4,3)A(4,3), B(−2,3)B(-2,3), C(−2,−5)C(-2,-5) and D(4,−5)D(4,-5) are given on the Cartesian plane. (i) Plot the points AA, BB, CC and DD accurately on a Cartesian plane. (ii) State the quadrant or axis on which each point lies. (iii) Join the points in the order A→B→C→D→AA\rightarrow B\rightarrow C\rightarrow D\rightarrow A. Name the figure obtained. (iv) Explain, using only the coordinates, why the opposite sides of the figure obtained in part (iii) are parallel to the coordinate axes.
