Problem

A capacitor of capacitance 5 μF5\,\mu\text{F} is charged to 100 V100\,\text{V} and then isolated from the battery. Its plate separation is now increased so that its capacitance becomes 2 μF2\,\mu\text{F}. Determine the energy stored in the capacitor after the plates are moved apart.
