Problem

An urn contains 4 red, 3 blue and 3 green balls. A ball is drawn at random, its colour noted and the ball is replaced. Then a second ball is drawn under the same conditions. (i) Write the complete sample space for the two successive draws in terms of ordered pairs of colours. (ii) State with reason whether the outcomes in the sample space obtained in (i) are equally likely. (iii) Let the event AA be “exactly one of the two balls drawn is blue”. List the elements of AA as a subset of the sample space. (iv) Using the classical definition of probability, find P(A)P(A).
