Problem

Consider the rational number 75\dfrac{7}{5}. Use a carefully labelled number line to answer the following. (i) State between which two consecutive integers 75\dfrac{7}{5} lies. (ii) Draw a portion of the number line long enough to show the integers identified in part (i). Divide the relevant unit interval into five equal parts and mark the position of 75\dfrac{7}{5}. (iii) Enlarge the neighbourhood of 75\dfrac{7}{5} by successive magnification to show divisions of one-tenth of a unit and indicate 75\dfrac{7}{5} clearly in this zoomed view. (iv) Write the decimal form of 75\dfrac{7}{5} and verify that the point you have plotted corresponds to this value.
