Problem

Consider the function f(x)=x2−1x−1,  x≠1.f(x)=\frac{x^{2}-1}{x-1},\;x\ne 1. Answer the following questions: (i) Simplify f(x)f(x) algebraically. (ii) After simplification, does the resulting expression represent a polynomial? State your reason. (iii) Determine the degree and leading coefficient of the simplified expression. (iv) State the domain of the original f(x)f(x) and of the simplified expression.
