Problem

A 5 g sample of a radioisotope has a half-life of 4 days. At the end of every 4-day period, exactly 1 g of the same isotope is added to the sample. Determine the mass of the isotope present immediately after the third addition (i.e., just after 12 days from the start). Assume no isotope is lost except by radioactive decay.
