Problem

A tree stands vertically on level ground. From a point AA on the ground the angle of elevation of the top of the tree is θ\theta and it is observed that tan⁡θ=0.8\tan\theta = 0.8. Use this information to answer the following. (i) Calculate sec⁡θ\sec\theta correct to two decimal places. (ii) If the horizontal distance ABAB from point AA to the foot BB of the tree is 25 m25\,\text{m}, find the height of the tree. (iii) Determine the length of the line of sight ACAC from point AA to the top CC of the tree.
