Problem

A network consists of five resistors arranged as follows: • R1=2 ΩR_1 = 2\,\Omega and R2=4 ΩR_2 = 4\,\Omega are connected in series. • Their combination is connected in parallel with R3=6 ΩR_3 = 6\,\Omega. • The result of the above is then connected in series with R4=3 ΩR_4 = 3\,\Omega. • Finally, this entire arrangement is connected across a 18 V18\,\text{V} battery of negligible internal resistance together with a resistor R5=5 ΩR_5 = 5\,\Omega in series. Answer the following: (i) Find the single equivalent resistance of the complete circuit. (ii) Calculate the total current drawn from the battery. (iii) Determine the current through and the potential difference across each of the five resistors.
