Problem

Consider the parametric equations x=asin⁡t,y=acos⁡t+bt,0<t<2π,x=a\sin t,\qquad y=a\cos t+bt,\qquad 0<t<2\pi, where aa and bb are positive constants. Answer the following: (i) Determine dydx\dfrac{dy}{dx} in terms of t,  a,  b.t,\;a,\;b. (ii) Obtain d2ydx2\dfrac{d^{2}y}{dx^{2}} in terms of t,  a,  b.t,\;a,\;b. (iii) Hence evaluate d2ydx2\dfrac{d^{2}y}{dx^{2}} at t=π3.t=\dfrac{\pi}{3}.
